3 Ways to Add ’Wow’ Factor To Your Photography Packaging

One of the best ways to keep customers knocking on your door is to consistently ‘wow’ them. This can be done by providing unforgettable customer service, going the extra mile on their wedding day, or by taking photos that well exceed their expectations.

Another sure-fire way to impress your couples is to leave a memorable ‘last impression’ during the client experience by adding that ‘wow’ factor to your photography packaging. Here are three ways to do just that.

1 - Show that you care.

Wedding photography is, by nature, a very personal service. By the time that you deliver the final images to your clients, it’s likely that you’ve had numerous consultations, possibly shot an engagement session, you’ve shared their wedding day with them, met their family and friends...not to mention the endless correspondence of emails you’ve shared.

At this point you’ll probably feel like they’ve become friends, but even if that’s not the case, you should know at least a little about them.  When you deliver their images, include a little note with specific personal well-wishes. Ask them about something that you know was coming:

“I hope that you’re loving getting settled into your new home!”

“OMG how was your honeymoon in the Bahamas!? Did you get to try the tropical treats that you were so excited about? Text me and tell me all about it!”

“Just saw your announcement on Facebook - congratulations on your pregnancy! So happy for you guys!”

Personal notes like this show a lot more love than a simple ‘Thank you for working with me’ - and the love you show your clients is bound to stick out in their memories more than anything else.

Bonus tip: Include a treat for their furry friends. So many couples are absolutely smitten with their pets, it will mean the world to them when you include a treat for their pup (in branded packaging, of course!).

2 - Make them laugh.

This may not work for everyone, but for the right photographer a little bit of humor can go a long way in adding ‘wow’ factor. If your brand includes an element of fun or lightheartedness, making your clients laugh - or at least chuckle - when they receive their images, you are bound to stand out in their memory.

Try including a simple pun, a meme or a funny pop culture reference - making your clients laugh is a beautiful thing.

3 - It best be beautiful.

One of the most effective ways that you can add that ‘wow’ factor to your photography packaging is to make it visually stunning.

Of course, clients know if they're getting a USB drive, a DVD or an album with the images and that will be exactly what they're expecting. However, you can go the extra mile and really blow your clients away by using beautiful, high-quality packaging that appeals to all of their senses. Make sure that it’s consistent with your branding, and one of the most impressive packages they’ve received.

By delivering your photos to your clients with an unexpected flourish, not only will you stand out in their memories, your name will be on their lips when friends ask them about their wedding vendors. Your packaging can be more than just a way to keep your current clients impressed - it can also serve to keep word-of-mouth referrals coming your way.
